Leading video entertainment firm, MultiChoice Kenya today announced its membership into the Technology Service Providers of Kenya (TESPOK) association which aims at influencing Information Communication and Technology (ICT) policy and regulations by engaging government at the relevant levels.

Multichoice is the first broadcaster to directly join TESPOK, with specific interest in cybersecurity services offered by the association. This will enable them to improve on the quality, reliability and security of as part of their service delivery to MultiChoice customers.

TESPOK is a professional, non-profit organization representing the interests of Technology service providers in Kenya.

Speaking during the signing ceremony, MultiChoice Kenya Managing Director, Eric Odipo lauded the association for being at the forefront of championing technology providers’ issues.

“We believe a key ingredient of our business’ sustainability and delivery of quality and accessible video entertainment to customers lies in having the right partners who understand the impact of various issues we encounter in our industry – and most importantly, that no single person or business can address some of these issues, like piracy, successfully on their own from a policy standpoint,” says Odipo. “It’s imperative for us to work together to address issues as a collective therefore, for us,TESPOK is a strategic affiliation as the association has been actively involved in a number of pertinent initiatives in their efforts to influence policy formulation and implementation while also providing the much-needed industry guidance and reference in technology matters.”

On her part, TESPOK Chief Executive Officer, Fiona Asonga said that TEPOK’s main objective was to influence ICT policy and regulations by engaging government at the relevant levels

“We remain committed to our mission of being the voice of Information Technology, influencing policy direction as well as addressing challenges faced by Technology stakeholders and providing guidance on resolution mechanisms. The strength of the association rests on its ability to be truly representative of the industry as a whole,” said Ms Asonga.

TESPOK has taken a leading role in spearheading the development of Information and Communications Technologies in the country, and also making access to quality and affordable communications service available to all Kenyans.
